Do You Truly Love Jesus Christ?

A lot of people in South Africa claim to be Christians and proclaim their loyalty to God. Thousands of them profess to love the Lord Jesus Christ. The purpose of this post is to challenge such claims by doing a litmus test using scripture to see if it is true or false.

Who Love the Lord Jesus Christ?Jesus told his disciples, according to the Gospel of John chapter 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." And also John emphasizes this on his first epistle, "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." (1 John 5:3). A person who love Christ will keep His commandments and such commandments will not be grievous. The word of God would not be seen as a luxury but as a necessity to them.

What are the commandments of Christ? The Lord Jesus Christ taught and said, "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." (John 13:34) If one loves the Lord Jesus Christ, they would show that by loving other Christians. To love christians is not just telling them that you love them but it is ensuring their growth and safety by means of constant communication which involves encouraging, reproving, instructing and warning them. Loving other could also mean to look into those who are in need and share that which you have.Today, Christians are seeking and providing food and clothing to unbelievers and neglecting their Christian brothers and sisters who lack these things. Jesus did not say the world would see that we are Jesus' disciples if we feed the world but if we "love one another" as Christians. If feeding unbelievers and starving Christians is today's means of evangelism then we have strayed from the word of God and have denied the faith. The Lord Jesus Christ shows us a scene on Judgment day, when he shall separate the goats from sheep. (Matthew 25:31-46) He will judge everyone according to what they did to Him, i.e "I was a hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, ye clothed me: I was sick and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." And then they all protest, "when did we do these things?" The Lord will reply, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."Who are Jesus' brethren?

There was a time where it was told to Jesus that his mother and his brothers desired to speak to him outside and He looked at his disciples and said, "My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it." (Matthew 12:46-49, Mark 3:31-34, Luke 8:19-21) Jesus' brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it. If we love and look after such we have done it to the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not our business to bribe the world to come to Christ by feeding or clothing it. Our business is to preach the gospel and make nations disciples (Mathew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16) and to feed the flocks of God (John 21:15-17). There is no blessing in feeding rich and thieving pastors but there is a blessing in feeding, clothing and attending to people who are on the mission to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to the far ends of the world at all costs, even the cost of their lives. We are not called to build enormous church buildings but we are sent forth to make disciples. Many big church buildings are full of people who will end up in hell anyway because they love not the Lord! They are selfish arrogant whiners who think God is their servant that will deliver to their hand what ever they command Him to deliver.Do you truly love the Lord Jesus Christ? Keep his commandments!! Share the gospel with sinners, support missions with your prayers, financial supports or even with literature like bibles and gospel tracts! Here are some of the missions to support and pray for:

Christ came into the world to save sinners!!

Looking at the first epistle to Timothy from the apostle Paul, the fifteenth verse of the first chapter, we read of the sole purpose of the coming of Christ into this world. There needs not to be an interpreter of this verse seeing it is plain even to the simplest of minds, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” It is a great wonder indeed that the Son of God would leave the heavens and its glorious countenance to come into this wretched earth to save wicked sinners and the vilest of men. Not only so but also to taste death on behalf of them that deserved to die so that they may be justified by faith in Him. He came to save sinners.

WHO IS A SINNER?

It is an interesting thing to give an answer to such a question as to who is a sinner. Who is a sinner? How can we define a sinner? A sinner can be called a sinner only when God says he is a sinner. God says in His word, “All have sinned” (Romans 3:23) and that “there is no one righteous, no not one” (Psalm 14:1-4) I believe beyond any shadow of doubt that God cannot lie. If God speaks from heaven through his servants, the prophets, stating that “there is none righteous” then we must know that indeed all have sinned. If all have sinned then it can be concluded that all are sinners and if all are sinners then my dear reader you and I are sinners. Yes we all are sinners for we have sinned against a True and a Holy God.

WHAT IS A SIN?

“Sin is the transgression of the law” (1 John 3:4) According to the scripture, anyone who transgress the law is committing a sin. Sin cannot exist without the law, because it is by the breaking of the law that a sin is born. The law of God is to love the LORD God with all heart, soul and strength and to love the neighbor as one’s self. These two laws are the fulfillment of the Ten Commandments which are God’s moral standards. In the Ten Commandments, the last six commandments are dealing with the relationship between a person and his neighbor. The first four commandments are dealing with a relationship between God and a human being.

The Ten Commandments

1. Have no other Gods before me (Idolatry – wicked imaginations, religions practices, false prophets etc.)
2. Make no image, any likeness of anything in heaven, earth or under the earth and do not bow down to
them (Idolatry – Materialism, love of money, self worship, love of cars, houses, etc.)
3. Hold not the name of the LORD your God in vain (blasphemy)
4. Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy (self indulgence)
5. Honor your mother and your father (disobedience to parents)
6. Do not kill (murder, hating, holding a grudge, cursing or swearing, name calling, child abortion)
7. Do not steal (theft)
8. Do not commitment adultery (sexual immorality)
9. Do not bear false witness against your neighbor (lying)
10. Do not covet (greed, lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh)

Miserable life of a sinner

No one have mastered the Ten Commandments, no, not one, because if one keeps nine and breaks one commandment out of ten, then he has broken all of them. Breaking the law of God have a consequence – DEATH – eternal separation from the creator. It is written, “the wages of sin is death” (Roman 6:23) and that “the soul that sins must die” (Ezekiel 18:4). He that despised the law of Moses was killed without mercy (Hebrews 10:28) So, all sinners must die according to the law and according to the justice system of God. All of them that transgress the law are owing to die, according to the scriptures. Death is the end deserved by all sinners. Yes, dear reader, you and I must die and be separated from our Creator the Holy and a true God forever. This is bad news for anyone to discover.

A sinner is the most miserable of all men. An enemy of God by nature from the day he/she was conceived and brought into this world. The life of a sinner is filled with misery and guilt, a slave to sin, having no one to deliver him/her from the hand of evil habits. The wise author of the book of Proverbs puts it rather profoundly when he says “The wicked flee when no man pursueth:” (Proverb 28:1). A sinner is wicked and has no peace, no hope and is running from nothing. He is fleeing from God and from all those who seek to offer him help. He resist the good counsel and he walks with pride in the way of destruction.

THE SAVIOR HAS COME

While the justness of God and His goodness alone can annihilate the whole sinful human race, his mercy made means for men to escape the wrath of God which is burning against the wicked. God, out of His infinite and unconditional love, gave his Son for us, as it is written, “…God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). God sent his Son to save us. Paul writes “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;” (1 Timothy 1:15). I marvel at this, God sent His only Son into the world to save His enemies, the sinners. It would have made great sense if God had sent His Son to save the righteous. For God to save sinners is completely beyond human contemplation. Christ explains this perfectly “…They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Mark 2:17). Christ came as a physician to resolve a matter pertaining to a serious deadly illness called sin. Those who have no sin would not need to be saved from sin and its consequences, only those who have sinned can benefit from the services of the Savior. The Son of God loved us enough to clear our debt by offering himself for us. God made His Son a sin offering for us, so that we can receive God’s righteousness through Him (2 Corinthians 5:21)

SALVATION IS A GIFT

Nothing in the world could be offered to God for our sins. Everything belongs to God, even our own selves, our bodies, EVERYTHING!!! We couldn’t offer anything to clear our debt. No good deed could undo the evil that has been committed against God. We have not merited salvation, it is simply a gift from God as it is written, “…God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,( by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:4-9)
There it is my dear reader, say not “I am too much of a sinner and cannot be loved by God” for as sure as the sun rises from the East and sets in the West, so does God love you and have given you a word and ministry of reconciliation through Jesus Christ his Son (2 Corinthians 5:18-19). Remember, Christ came into the world to save sinners!!

Are You Safe From The Lake of Fire?

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. ~ Revelation 20:15
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. ~ Revelation 21:8
The Lake of Fire, a place of terrible torment where Satan, the false prophet and the beast will end up (Revelation 20:10). All the wicked persons will be cast into such a horrendous place. The question that should be asked to you dear reader is, Are you safe from the lake of fire?

Are You Safe?

The scripture tells us to examine ourselves… Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?(2 Corinthians 13:5). How can one really know if they are in danger of the lake of fire? How to determine as to who deserves to go there or not?  One needs to examine his or her own life by the standards that God laid down. These standards are The Ten Commandments of God.

Test yourself and see if you are safe.

~Have you ever lied? If you have, (and I know you have), then you have broken the ninth commandment of God, which states clearly that “Thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor“. A person who tells half truths, white lies or just plain lies is a LIAR

~Have you ever stolen anything? even if, it’s a piece of gum, taking anything without the permission from the owner thereof is stealing and that is breaking the eighth commandment of God. A person who steals is called a THIEF

~Have you ever looked with lust? Jesus said, “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.“(Matthew 5:27-28) This means if you look with lust, like wishing to have sex with girls/women or boys/men or watching pornography on your cell phone, computer or television, God sees you as an ADULTERER because you have broken the seventh commandment.

These are only three commandments, there are still seven more pointed towards you. If today or tonight you had to die, you will appear before the judgment seat of the Most High, Good and Holy God (see Hebrews 9:27, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Ecclesiastes 12:14, Revelation 20:11-13). If then you are found to be guilty of being a LIAR, an ADULTERER, and a THIEF God must put you away into His prison for good. That prison is called The Lake of Fire, which is the Second Death. This is the punishment that God has laid in store for the wicked sinners who do not love Him. If you have broken one of God’s commandments, it is the same as having broken all of them. Breaking the law of God is called Sin. The results of one sin equals to the results of many sins for the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a). The truth is, you are not safe from the Lake of Fire. You are good as dead before God. That is very bad news, I would imagine.

How Can You Be Saved?

We have established that God will find you guilty if He had to judge you based on His Holy standards. There is nothing that we can do to escape the Lake of Fire. Do not lose heart just yet though, because I have GOOD NEWS for you. God, out of His mercy and kindness made a way for us to escape such horrors of the Lake of Fire.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)
And that,
“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…”. (1 Timothy 1:15)
God have already provided an offering for sin, that is to say, a perfect offering that satisfied the wrath of God which He had against us. The sin offering was Jesus Christ the Son of God. It is written that, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21) and that, “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” (Romans 5:9-10).

This is the grace of God. You and I do not deserve it. We have not merited the love and the salvation of God, it is purely a gift from God.
